• Kôlh It Draw

    Dominique Vannod dancer & artist

Charcoal is one of the oldest drawing materials in human nature. Its soul, fluidity & sensitivity are guiding me through the maze of the unconscious. I like to draw between midnight and 4 am, drawing has become a need, trying to catch the essence of what is surrounding us...   Born in Switzerland, I moved to London in 2011, following my passion for dance & physical theater. I often describe myself as 'a dancer with a passion for drawing'. Indeed they became necessary to each other as my artistic practice often ties them together. Drawing is a movement that follows my inner impulses as the charcoal dances in the space. After a diploma at LABAN dance school, I got an intensive training at LISPA - London International School of Performing Arts. Among its several and rich teachings, Aurelian Koch and Thomas Prattki, founder of LISPA, made me discover the joy of drawing by following instinctive and spontaneous impulses.

"Art often explores outer journeys in the landscape of the so-called real world but for this show, the Artist look inside to encounter their inner selves at times of transition. The interface between life experience and the artistic process can be a strange mysterious world of half glimpsed effects and ideas, but this is also the place in between life events where creative sparks are born."   Carlos de Lins, curator at Espacio Gallery

"In our secular culture, where there is no otherworldly accountability for our behavior, where we expect our needs and even our desires to be met right away, where the consumerist imperative leaves little room for delayed gratification, will the concepts of heaven and hell find any resonance at all?"   Carlos de Lins, curator at Espacio Gallery
